As we shared in our last update, Freak War is shipping directly from our fulfillment partner’s China hub to backers worldwide.
By shipping directly, we are able to avoid high import tariffs, freight costs, customs delays, and additional warehouse handling, helping to streamline delivery and prevent even higher costs.
While global shipping rates have continued to rise throughout 2025, we have worked hard to keep costs as affordable as possible, even absorbing part of the increases ourselves to minimize the impact on you.
We recognize that shipping is still a significant cost, and we truly appreciate your understanding as we work to get Freak War to you as smoothly and affordably as possible.
Please complete your shipping payment by April 30th. Early payments help us schedule shipments faster.

If you pre-ordered the game or added extras through BackerKit and your card hasn’t been charged yet, those charges will be processed on May 1st.

Hey Freak War backers!
We’ve got amazing news: Freak War is finally at our fulfillment partner! The games have arrived and we’re officially entering the final phase—getting them into your hands.
Shipping from China Fulfillment Hub
Due to the current global landscape, including international logistics and trade considerations, all backer pledges will be packed and shipped from our China fulfillment hub instead of routing through a U.S. hub. This approach helps us streamline delivery worldwide.
Shipping Costs & April 30 Deadline
As Freak War is a small, independent print run—not a mass-produced product shipped through the likes of Amazon—shipping prices may be higher than expected, especially considering ongoing global trade tensions and increased tariffs.
As your individual pledges are packed, we’re calculating the shipping costs. Once finalized, a shipping SKU will be added to BackerKit for you to pay.

We’re excited to bring you a major update—production is officially DONE!
Every component of Freak War is manufactured and ready to go.
Now, our focus shifts entirely to preparing for fulfillment.
Fulfillment & Partner Restructuring
Our fulfillment partner was recently acquired and is undergoing a restructuring process to improve their services.
This means they are fine-tuning their operations and upgrading their backend system, which will ultimately benefit both Kickstarter fulfillment and live orders going forward.
However, during this transition, some services are temporarily slowed or paused.
Here’s what’s affected (as relevant to Freak War):

Production Samples Unveiled!
In the video below, designer Nate Galbraith unboxes all of the final production samples we’ve received. This is the actual, manufactured product—not just proofs.

This is the most detailed look at Freak War yet, and we can’t wait for you to check it out!
Production Timeline
Our manufacturer is celebrating Chinese New Year. Once their holiday concludes, production will wrap up this month! That means we’re nearing the final stretch.
We originally estimated fulfillment would begin in February, so yes, we’re behind our initial timeline.
However, we built a significant buffer into our campaign, and with worldwide fulfillment set to conclude in June, we are still on track to meet our final delivery schedule.
The Magnetic Box – A Special Gift to Our Backers!
One of the biggest surprises in this video is the magnetic box that holds the entire Freak War set.
Initially, this was meant to be a community stretch goal, but while we didn’t officially unlock it, we wanted to show our appreciation for your support.
That’s why every backer at the $50 Starter Pack level or higher is getting it for free!

Freak War Year-End Update: Progress, Delays, and What’s Next!

As this year draws to an end, we have a few important updates to share with you regarding the progress of Freak War, along with some exciting news about the coin and mat. Let’s dive in!
Canada Post Delay (and Resolution)
Recently, we learned that Canada Post had been on strike, causing significant delays with over three weeks of mail backlog. This was particularly concerning for us as we’re waiting on the final proof package, including the cards in their packaging.
The good news is that Canada Post has reached an agreement, and mail services are resuming. While this did result in some delays, we’re optimistic things will start moving again soon.

The Coin & Mat
We’re thrilled to show off the coin and updated mat!
The Coin: It’s finally here, and wow—it’s everything we hoped for! The coin is shiny, cool, and has a great weight to it. The metal finish adds a premium touch, although it does pick up fingerprints easily (it’s just one of those things).
The details are sharp, and we love how it turned out.
Here’s a quick description from us testing it out:
“Look at this, so shiny, so cool, very good weight. The details are good. Let’s give it a flip… tails, baby, tails!” (We may have dropped it, but that’s part of the fun, right?)
The Mat: We’ve also finalized the playmat! The original size was way too big, so we’ve adjusted it to a normal size, and it’s just right now. It’s practical, sleek, and ready for gameplay. Check out the pictures—we’re excited to get these into your hands!
Manufacturing Timeline
Our manufacturer has provided an updated timeline, and we’re on track for everything to be mass-printed by the end of January. This includes all components of the game. It’s great to see everything coming together!
While we are behind in the process according to our original estimates, we are still on track to deliver everything before our deadline of June 2025!

In other news, our previous fulfillment partner was recently acquired, and we’re currently in discussions with them about updated shipping prices for domestic and international backers.
As we get closer to fulfillment, we’ll keep you informed about these arrangements to ensure a smooth delivery process.
